ok, so the concept of the all A-Rod team is not my own. i heard it first from J-dub and C-note on ESPN Pittsburgh Sports Radio 1250. what is the all A-Rod team? well, A-Rod is best known for his performances being consonant with his talent level ONLY WHEN IT DOESN’T MATTER MOST. or, a less draconian criteria would be an individual who has the numbers, is worth the hype, except in terms of meaningful results…
now, i see that jayson stark has seriously done the research and put together his own book on the players (in baseball, at least–J-dub and C-note extended the analogy to all sports…) that would form the pool from which the all A-Rod team would be chosen.
i still think it’s more fun when you extend the all A-Rod team to other sports… that way, guys like Dirk, Steve Nash, T-Mac, Dan Marino, and Michael Owen could all make the team…
btw, i tried to run this past some of my friends in the office to see if we could make a similar squad of environmental scientists; however, i quickly abandoned that idea after spending 10 minutes trying to tell them who A-Rod is.
