I really can’t think of a title for this one. I’ve been trying, but I really can’t… I thought this class would be an inspiration to my personal goals and the purpose I discern for my life. “Development Policy and Administration”… Now that sounds like a course which can provide some meaningful insight into the…

Time to Move the Mississippi?
The New York Times reports that the state of Louisiana is planning to divert a large portion of the Mississippi River south of New Orleans in order to offset marshland loss in the Mississippi Delta. This seems like a fabulous project, and an impending disaster all at the same time. I don’t really know which…

OK. Some professional scientists need to leave grad school and undergrad behind. What could any professional scientist be thinking that would make him arrange a stripping routine as official conference entertainment? It is an event like this that can help people realize why more diversity in science is necessary. Can people who would sanction a…

Should NCAA Student Athletes Be Paid?
A friend of mine, Lawrence Watkins, informed me that his brother, Dr. Boyce Watkins, will be featured on ESPN’s “Quite Frankly: with Steven A. Smith” tonight at 11PM. Please check him out. He will be on a panel with Method Man and others speaking about whethter NCAA Student-Athletes should be paid. I would be interested…
Should NCAA Student-Athletes Be Paid? I think not.
I disagree that student-athletes should be paid for their efforts. The NCAA makes it expressly clear that student-athletes are to be students first, athletes second. The NCAA has rules and regulations which ensure that the point of going to college is to obtain an education, not primarily to prepare for professional sport. I do agree…
