i never thought i’d like the project management class so much.
i mean, most of my colleagues would tell me that the students are horrible, or they aren’t motivated, or don’t have much knowledge of the subject matter. i must say i have been impressed with our students so far.
maybe i have been blessed with fabulous students, but so far, they have been self-initiating, knowledgeable, and industrious students. they have been simply amazing so far. it’s making me consider ta’ing a course next semester to gain some more teaching experience and to solidify my knowledge of the subjects i’m interested in teaching.
in terms of frustrations, the teaching/project management experience has been time-consuming so far. it’s also frustrating sometimes to learn that you have to identify solutions to problems where the students know more than you do. for example, in my project class there are several sharp economics students who know much more about viable approaches to identify expanded economic impacts of the lng (liquefied natural gas) siting problem we are focusing on. also, i have to refresh my knowledge of some relevant programming approaches and other peculiar things that come up.
nonetheless, i have enjoyed it so far, and look forward to what the experience will continue to bring in the future.
